Junior Ballet
Ballet
One important task of a top company is to promote young dancers. Public auditions have shown that the level achieved so far cannot be maintained solely by engaging new dancers; it is preferable to provide the new generation of young dancers with a training that is harmonious and sustainable.
Dancers should not remain longer than two years in the Junior Ballet. The transitional period between the end of their training and their entry into full professional life should be used to train with the Zurich Ballet, to learn to assert themselves within a professional ensemble, and to be involved in its performances at the Opera House and on tour.
The Junior Ballet uses the extensive repertoire of Zurich Ballet for its performances. Heinz Spoerli also develops special choreographies with which the junior company can go on its own tours. Spoerli sees great development potential in his choreographic work with the young dancers, since it enables him to respond in a contemporary way to the enormous changes going on in dance.
